In the year 1895, the Czechoslovakian artist Alphonse Maria Mucha rose to dizzying heights of stardom. The design for the advertising poster for the Fifth Avenue, Broadway theatre production of Gismonda that opened on December 11th and ran until February 1895 would be the making of him. Today I wanted to make the reader think. To give a glimpse into another life... Frozen Alone Clarice took her knitting from the bag. She leaned further back in her armchair and squeezed her bottom cheeks together. She had heard somewhere it was good for you. The wooden knitting needles moved through her hands at a steady speed. Her choice of sage green wool would make a fine hat for John. Behind a stack of empty beer crates, she had found the other John in the shed. Somewhere in the index box of her mind, she remembered the good old days of making beer with her husband and the sweet flavour of the dark liquid. How different things had been then. The house on the hill was secluded. No one visited anymore. John was a recluse. Now he had passed she would make more effort to be sociable. His introversion had led to his death. Clarice had told him they should get an aerial company in to mend the damn thing. He had landed on his head. It had killed him. Lying on the ground, lifeless. Clarice...

Why would anyone want to go on a 24-hour holiday? So, you finally get your own place. Or maybe you share with friends. It's cool, fun, but oh heck, living away from your parents is somewhat pricey. You want to go away for some summer fun, and with funds running low, you decide to choose something a bit different. You see, bills, food, petrol, rent, subscriptions, they all add up, don't they? I mean, who has enough left over to fork out for a week's holiday? So, that is when you decide to take up the challenge of a 24-hour break. You ask your friends if they are up for it, and together you plan your window away over a glass of white wine. It could be fun, right? So, your friends are up for it. You choose your hot and hopefully not too clammy destination. You book an extra day off work to get over your 24-hour adventure.
