Today I reviewed a book that I have yet to finish. Why do I feel obliged to write about it? Elena Ferrante is a wonderful name. It is not a real name, it is an alias. Not much is known about Ferrante’s background. It is said that Elena grew up in Naples and is the daughter of a seamstress. Could Ferrante’s exquisitely crafted writing only be accomplished by an academic? Some critics state so. Imagine starting a degree and then it all falls apart. You don't want to do you? Try for just one minute, please. So, what is this all about Tiggy? I will get straight to it, to be honest. I am lucky to have friends of all ages, and recently, a twenty-year-old pal confided in me that she loved to write. She had studied vigorously at six-form college to gain adequate A-level grades. The goal was to study English Literature at a Northern University in the UK. Her mother's family lived nearby. It would be far enough from her home to count as " being away" from her immediate family. But also close to a supportive network of aunts and cousins. Alphonse Mucha's Influence: Sarah Bernhardt: Ashbourne: My gift to the town

In the year 1895, the Czechoslovakian artist Alphonse Maria Mucha rose to dizzying heights of stardom. The design for the advertising poster for the Fifth Avenue, Broadway theatre production of Gismonda that opened on December 11th and ran until February 1895 would be the making of him. This prototypical production starred the then young and stunning actress Sarah Bernhardt and Lucien Guitry as Almerio. My first encounter with Mucha’s work was at a very young age. I would spend many hours with my grandmother, chatting and looking at magazines and books. One afternoon we sat in her large sunny bedroom, the light from the wide bay window making the flowers on the Sanderson wallpaper dance and sing. My childhood nieghbour Roald Dahl encouraged my passion, picked me up from the library, read my poetry, and stories, and discussed Dickens with me.
