Two Page Notebook Challenge: Today I challenged myself to write a short story over two pages of my small notebook

Indulgent

I take pride in my collections. Others may not appreciate the time and effort involved in achieving such displays.
Paperweights, Murano glass, stamps, postcards. All former obsessions. Luckily my parents are good to me. They indulge me with their love of my hobbies. Collections need good guardians. Over the years Mum and Dad have been more than indulgent to me.
I did marry. His name was Ian. Said he was the same. But I found him shallow and in the end, a fake. He did not understand order, aesthetics, and how to log your passions. He said I was pretty, sexy and yes we enjoyed ourselves. After the first year, I saw through him. We argued about my main hobby. He resented the time I gave to my collections.

Would you like to know that I am good at my job? Forensic science requires only the sharpest and most organized minds. I work hard. The police welcome my attitude. It fills me with a sense of belonging and pride. I am always on time. Each year I achieve my targets and right on queue my salary increases. So long husband, I know where I am held in high regard.

A new display case arrived today. A large for two magpies I keep in the fridge. Their features will be soft and delicate. I shall fill them and fix them in flight. Mum and Dad, well, they both enjoy my main interest. Some would call it morbid, but I like to think of it as breathing new life into the old. An extension of life. Mum and Dad are getting old.
