Beautiful Rose, prey, please tell us where you come from.

The rose is a quintessential part of any English cottage garden.

From cultivated varieties to wild roses, we, as a nation love and admire these blooming wonderful flowers. And bloom they do indeed!

Anyone who has found a rose bush gone wild on a railway bank will appreciate the beauty of this sometimes, wild child of nature when left to do its own thing. In fact, why not plant your unwanted rose bushes somewhere as above and see them ramble, extend, and create beauty and a feeding place for nature…

The word flower originates from the Roman Goddess Flora. The flower most commonly associated with this word is the Rose. So, from ancient times to your local garden show, the rose has voyaged a long way.

Beautiful Rose, prey, please tell us where you come from...

It is stated that the philosopher Confucius (551-479 BC) reported that the emperor of the Chou dynasty owned six hundred books on the rose. They were grown in the Imperial Gardens. You can imagine the delight that this would have given, and surely the smell of scented roses must have filled the air with the sweetest of pongs one could wish to inhale. Oil was made from royal roses. If a civilian were found to be in possession, they would find themselves charged with death.

Rose oil contains geraniol, phenylethyl alcohol, and citronellol. And has antibacterial, and antifungal properties. So, all in all, from China to the whole world, the rose has proven its place at the top of our wish list when planting for not only beauty. But many other benefits as well.
