It has been a warm summer and shades of green are
hanging on for dear life to the trees.
The wider population seems to ignore Autumn. We come
to the end of September and the shops are full of Christmas-linked goods. As if
any of us really need anything more in our homes stuffed full of things.
The darker months are on their way, and I can say,
hand on heart, that this is my favourite time of year.
The summer clothes are packed away and warmer items
come back out. Jumpers are checked for moth holes, scoured for fluffy bobbles,
and washed.
Harvest Festival
Well, what about it, that’s what I’m saying. Okay, life these days does not revolve around going to church, but we can still celebrate the harvest. Here in the UK, we have wonderful fruits and vegetable crops. Surely this is the season for baked apples and crumble puddings with whatever you fancy.
If custard is your thing, then go for it. Cream or ice
cream, the choice is yours.
A festival of colours can enter the home as well. When
was the last time you brought out the paints for the kids or grandchildren?
Collected large leaves and then smoothed them out on paper. The veins of life are
printed in orange, brown, and yellow with a tinge of green. The cycle of Autumn
will live on for eternity, but little dots grow up.
